Three\nnewly appointed Supreme Court Judges and one Principal Judge have been sworn to\noffice at a ceremony presided over by President Yoweri Museveni at State House,\nEntebbe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\n3 Supreme Court Judges include Justices Mike Chibita, Lady Justice Percy Tuheise\nand Justice Ezekiel Muhanguzi. Dr. Flavia Zeija, Pricipal Judge has replaced\nretired Justice Yorokamu Bamwiine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President\nMuseveni was happy to note that the Judiciary has come a long way adding that\nthe first African Chief Justice was imported from Nigeria in the 1960s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI\nam very happy that God and history have given me the opportunity of\nparticipating in rebuilding the judiciary of Uganda,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nstressed the need for discussion with the judiciary to chart a way forward to\nharmonizing positions concerning matters of law on different areas of interst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\ncongratulated the new Principal Judge, Zeija and the entire judiciary team upon\ntheir new appointments. He also commended Justice Bamwiine for shpharding the\nHigh Court for a long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chief Justice, Bart Katureebe, thanked President Museveni for his continued support to the Judiciary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He congratulated the new Principal Judge and welcomed him to the High Court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He asked the Supreme Court Judges to be committed because their new appointments come with new demanding tasks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
