{"id":13156,"date":"2020-01-09T09:42:52","date_gmt":"2020-01-09T06:42:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=13156"},"modified":"2020-01-09T09:42:55","modified_gmt":"2020-01-09T06:42:55","slug":"uganda-to-host-commonwealth-speakers-meet-in-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2020\/01\/09\/uganda-to-host-commonwealth-speakers-meet-in-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"Uganda to host Commonwealth Speakers Meet in 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Uganda\nis set to host Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference of the Commonwealth\n(CSPOC) in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Uganda\nwas selected to host the conference at the ongoing CSPOC in Ottawa, Canada\nrunning from 06-10 January 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nConference provides Speakers and presiding officers of National Parliaments in\nthe Commonwealth with a unique opportunity to gather together in a forum of\ntheir own to exchange information and express views on matters of common\nconcern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among\nissues being discussed at the conference are the format of the said forums;\nstanding committee rules and venues for future meetings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nSpeakers are also discussing issues of parliamentary engagement: openness,\ntransparency and accountability; parliamentarians as effective legislators and\nconstituency representatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On\nselection of venues for future meetings, it was agreed that the 2021 CSPOC\nwould be held in Guernsey which is an island in the English Channel off the\ncoast of Normandy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In\n2022, Australia will be the host while the Standing Committee meeting will be\nheld in Trinidad and Tobago in 2022.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Uganda is set to host Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference of the Commonwealth (CSPOC) in 2024.
