The Ministry of Agriculture has said\u00a0 the heavy rains and floods that were persistent last year are contributory factors to the low agricultural outputs for 2019 besides fake drugs on the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to minister Vincent Ssempijja, the government will now track inputs from the source of origin to the final user.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We had the challenge of fake drugs, chemicals on the market. We have tried to talk to the private sector those who are dealing in chemicals, those dealing in all the inputs including seeds,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also said that government is preparing to come in with a new strategy to address such challenges this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We have had fake seeds in the market and government is prepared to come in with a new strategy for curbing this vice. We are going to arrange, we are going to have new system and we are going to register new agents who will deal in inputs and those who produce drugs from here,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He stressed that\u00a0 all the agents will be registered by the government.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Those\u00a0 agents will be registered and gazzetted by government. Everybody should know who is importing and they should also indicate their outlets even in the remotes areas. We should know where you got these drugs from,” he said.\u00a0\u00a0
