Members\nof Parliament from Kasese district have demanded for the transitional justice\nsystem to be used to remove uncertainty among the population in this part of\nthe country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nleaders said the available mechanisms have failed to deliver justice to the\npeople and victims of what they called an attack by government on the palace of\nthe cultural leader of Rwenzururu kingdom in 2016.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In\na press conference held in Kasese district, led by the area woman MP, Winnie\nKizza, many of their people who were apprehended in the aftermath of the attack\nare on remand awaiting trial. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“An\nattack that was mooted upon our people\nlike I have said before it is now 3\nyears when that happened, the people in\nRwenzururu kingdom are mourning and are\nin grief and they have been mourning for the last 3 years as you may all be aware our king is still\nunder house arrest,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nsaid whereas Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere is out on bail, his movement is\nrestricted to the greater Kampala area, something she described as house\narrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mumbere\nwas charged with terrorism, murder and treason.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nnoted that about 200 people are in the police cells and it is very sad to note\nthat among those who were arrested five of them have so far died in prison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“You\nalso remember that the 150 people including children were massacred in cold\nblood by the Museveni regime under the commander of Elwelu with supervision of\nMugenyi who mercilessly murdered our people,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nsaid as leaders from Kasese, they have tried all available means including\nnegotiations to see whether the situation can get back to normal but Museveni government\nhas refused to hear any of their pleas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“He\nhas refused to listen to any cry and it is unfortunate that courts have not\nalso given us justice. We continue to ask the courts to give us justice, we\nbelieve that justice delayed is justice\ndenied,” she said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
