The\nForum For Democratic Change Party has said it will use the services of private investigators\nto look into the break-in and theft of computers at the Party headquarters in\nNajjanankumbi last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some\nof the items that were stolen from their offices include computers, significant\ndocuments among other others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Addressing\nthe media on Monday at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi, the party’s\ndeputy spokesperson John Kikonyogo said the Police have not been forthcoming\nwith new information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On\nTuesday 19th November 2019, the opposition party offices in Kampala and the\ndistrict branch in Kasese were broken into by unknown persons who stole\ncomputers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police\nin response arrested the FDC office security guard after a sniffer dog from the\ncrime scene ended up at his renting facility which made him the prime suspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs\nwe wait for the police report, the party has contracted private investigators\nto do the same and this will enable us compare our report with that of police\nto inform the management of the next course of action,\u201d said FDC deputy\nspokesman John Kikonyogo<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\ndeputy spokesperson Kampala metropolitan police Luke Owoyesigire urged FDC to\nuse competent people in their investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I don\u2019t know their criteria that they are going\nto use but I hope they will use capable\npeople who won’t report something false at the end of the day ,we are also\ngoing to look into it but what I know is that our investigation is\nindependently done by police,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nsaid police is also going to come up with their report on the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\nshall make sure that we come out with\nfacts, if they want a report on what we\nare investigating, they can at any time write to us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some\nof the institutions that suffered the same challenge of breaking into offices\nand stealing computers include Human Rights Network for Journalists (HRNJ), the\nObserver newspaper, Inter Religious Council of Uganda (IRCU), Legal and Service\nProviders Network (LASPNET), Citizens Coalition for Independent Media among\nothers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
