The\nDirector of Science Andrew Mubiru said that they are to regulate the dealers of\nthe gas cylinders after thorough investigations surrounding the device which\nwas exploded<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According\nto deputy Kampala Metropolitan area police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire,\npolice was called by some of the employees over fears of an explosion of the\ngas cylinder at the washing bay that also houses a welding workshop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhen\npolice came in, they realized they could not handle the incident as the\ncylinder continued swelling,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\npolice spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the incident noting that the bomb\nsquad was later called in to help handle the situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe\nbomb squad realized they could not carry it away without exploding, prompting\nthem to call in the fire brigade department. They thought they could use water\nto cool it but this was not possible.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Owoyesigyire\nfurther added that the gas cylinder was detonated safely though some residents\nrefused to leave the place which made the work of the bomb squad complicated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cPolice\nhad to use tear gas to force them away from the scene so as to safely detonate\nit but the situation was well handled.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
