The\nactivity, which is to be carried out annually, is aimed at fighting breast and cervical\ncancer in women. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sylivia\nNakamya, the Executive Director of Rays of Hope Hospice in Jinja noted that the\nrun is intended to raise funds to help screen women on cervical and breast\ncancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\ncalled upon all the women in the country to embrace early medical check-ups so\nthat the disease is detected early enough in a bid to fight it before it\nspreads to all parts of the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We\nurge all women to go for early check-ups because it is very vital for you to go\nfor cancer screening and know how your body is standing,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nnoted that regular cervical screening is the way to identify abnormal changes\nin the cells of the cervix at an early age hence providing immediate solutions\nto fight it before the situation worsens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\ncalled upon the public and sponsors to give all the necessary assistance to the\npatients with cancer including clothes as one way of making them feel\ncomfortable in the society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nhowever revealed that some things which are said to be free by Uganda Cancer\ninstitute are and cited example of radiotherapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The\nUganda cancer institute, there are some things they say are free but surely\nthey are not free even the radiotherapy is not free,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nsaid there is need to get support to treat and care for the ladies who have\nbreast and cervical cancer noting that there are many women with cancer that\nneed financial support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“And\nwe have to raise resources to be able to screen the ladies so that we can get\nthose who have cervical cancer early enough for easy treatment,” she\nnoted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
