Students\nthat have been attending Maritime Search and Rescue have been urged to\nstrengthen the African cooperation as they put in practice the knowledge\nacquired from the training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nDeputy Commander Land Force Maj. Gen. Sam Kavuma made this call while closing a\ntwo weeks training of 25 officers and men of the ten participating countries\nconducted at Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel, Entebbe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nEastern Africa Standby Force (EASF)Maritime Search and Rescue course has been\nongoing from 23rd Sep 2019 with participants from Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Ethiopia,\nKenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\ncomplemented the continued financial and advisory support from the Nordic\nAdvisory Coordination Staff (NACS) who were the sponsors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\napplauded the government of Uganda for the good working relationship and\naccepting to host this year’s Eastern Africa Standby Force Exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gen.\nKavuma congratulated the trainees upon completing the course successfully which\nhe said was as a result of determination and commitment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nalso thanked the instructors for the good job citing that if it was not for\ntheir willingness and love for the assignment, the students would have missed\nout on the knowledge that was imparted on them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nfurther said that the course will help the officers during peace support\nmissions and also while dealing with other maritime threats in their countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He added that the training should help them to\nstrengthen inter Africa cooperation to provide security for the people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nHead of Peace Support Operations Department, Brig Gen. Henry Isoke appreciated\nthe UPDF and government of Uganda for the continued support in the development\nof Eastern Africa Standby Force capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nsaid it is only from such support by member states that EASF will be able to\ndeliver on its mandate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Commander\nStefan Silvan on behalf of the NACS complimented the hospitality that was\ndemonstrated during the stay of the trainees in Uganda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
