The minister for presidency Esther Mbayo revealed that President of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa, is expected to be the special guest at 57th Uganda’s Independence Day celebrations which are to be held in Sironko district under the theme “Consolidation of National Unity, Security, Freedom and Prosperity”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“You are aware that the President recently visited Zimbabwe and it’s one of the countries that is staggering with the economy,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The minister made the revelation while addressing the media at Uganda Media Centre in Kampala early this week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She confirmed that President Museveni invited President Mnangagwa as a special guest to grace the independence celebrations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe President of Uganda, Gen Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be the chief guest and he has invited another special guest His Excellence Emmerson Mnangagwa, the President of Zimbabwe to grace the occasion,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She elaborated that the government chose Sironko district because of the governement policy of equality in all aspects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhy Sironko? as you are aware, it’s governement policy to ensure equality in all aspects and it’s a norm that national celebrations are held in different parts of the country so that the nation is felt”she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She said its now a norm that all National Celebrations are to be held in different parts of the country so that the people feel the nation<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She also elaborated that government chose the district because of the towering role that Bugisu region continues to play towards the consolidation of the achievements of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“And Bugisu sub-region and indeed Eastern Uganda has achieved tremendous progress and this provides an opportunity to showcase this progress to the nation and finally as a token of appreciation to the people of Bugisu for their contribution to national development,”she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added that over the years Manny people from this region participated in the struggle for independence and during the resistance days and so they deserve to be appreciated in a special way.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
