Flamboyant\ncity socialite Suleiman Kabangala Mbuga, who is popularly known as SK Mbuga,\ncould be out of jail but not a free man yet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mbuga\nreturned to Uganda over the weekend from Sweden where he is facing gold fraud\ncharges together with his wife Jalia Birungi Chebet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\ncouple allegedly fleeced over 50 million Kronor (about Shs23Bn) from Birungi’s\nMuzungu pensioner identified as Stein Heiso while purporting to sell him gold. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mbuga,\nafter hiding for years, was arrested early last year in Dubai, before being\nextradited to Sweden, where he has been languishing in jail, until he was\nreleased last week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However,\nour snoops reveal that the case is not yet over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\nhave established that what temporarily got Mbuga off the noose was that while\nin Court, he denied knowing his wife Birungi and prosecution asked court for\ntime to bring enough evidence linking the two to each other. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Snoops\nsay that was the reason why Birungi didn’t appear at fore front recently. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She\nwasn’t even among the people who welcomed him at Entebbe Airport, for fear that\nInterpol spies could have been around watching her. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
But\nwe have learnt that fresh investigations are underway for court prosecutors to\nprove that Mbuga and Vivian Chebet Birungi know each other, after which they\nwill both be netted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We\nhear investigators are using a video clip of Birungi at one of the local TV\nstations talking about her marriage with Mbuga, which they will use to pin both\nof them in the fresh investigations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nreason why court wants prosecution to link Mbuga to Birungi is that while in\ncourt Heisoo, the victim of the scam pinned Birungi as the person who conned\nthe money, not Mbuga. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The onus is now on Heisoo and his lawyers to prove that indeed Mbuga and Birungi are acquaintances.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
