September\n18, 2019, on the side-lines of the 63rd IAEA General conference in Vienna the\nGovernments of the Russian Federation and of the Republic of Uganda signed an\nintergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear\nenergy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On\nbehalf of Russia, the document was signed by Nikolay Spassky, Deputy Director\nGeneral \u2013 Director of international activities of Russian State\nAtomic Energy Corporation Rosatom, on behalf of Uganda by the Minister of state for energy\nand mineral resources of the Republic of Uganda Eng. Muloni Irene Nafuna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nagreement meets all modern requirements for such documents and lays the foundation\nfor practical cooperation between Russia and Uganda in the peaceful uses of\nnuclear energy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In\nparticular, it implies joint work in such areas as: creation of nuclear\ninfrastructure, production of radioisotopes for industrial, healthcare,\nagricultural use, as well as education and retraining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The parties agreed to exchange visits\nfor industry experts in the near future and to create workgroups for specific\napplications like in specific areas, including construction of the Center for nuclear\nscience and technology in Uganda on the basis of a research reactor of Russian\ndesign, which is a complex but promising endeavour.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
