The\nDeputy Speaker of Parliament, Jacob Oulanyah, has encouraged graduates from the\nMakerere Institute of Social Development (MISD) to utilise their new skills the\nright way for positive development of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oulanyah\nwas the guest of honour at the Institute\u2019s 15th graduation ceremony on Friday,\n30 August 2019 in Nakulabye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs\nyou graduate today, you are opening a new chapter of life and this means other\nopportunities have opened up to you. Seek these opportunities and explore them for\nthe next chapter,\u201d Oulanyah said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nnoted that most successful people were not born into their current situations,\n\u201cwe just worked ourselves there\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oulanyah\ntold the graduates never to underestimate humble beginnings but instead build\non it to attain greater heights because it is a journey<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHave\nthe right attitude, mind-set, environment and you will succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MISD\nhas trained your hands and brain so that you do and think positive doing things\nthat glorify God’s image,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Oulanyah\ntold the graduates not to fear failure adding that; \u201cgreater honour is given to\nthose who rise above their failures\u201d. He urged them to think outside the box\nand create jobs if they can instead of looking for them. The Deputy Speaker\nsaid the society the graduates are walking into is heavily corrupted and\ntherefore they should be part of the soldiers that fight the vice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Hon.\nCaptain Donozio Kahonda, the MP for Ruhinda, Mitooma District and old boy of\nthe Institute, advised the graduates that youthful life is fun and enjoyable\nbut they must put it to good use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cYour\nyouth is a crucial element in determining the trajectory of the rest of your\nlife. Have realistic expectations because things may not turn out to be what\nyou expected; you have to work hard,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Kahonda\nreiterated the Deputy Speaker\u2019s advice by asking the graduates to grab onto and\nlook for all opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHowever,\u201d\nhe said, \u201cdo not be over ambitious or greedy; align yourself with the goals of\nyour employer and with work ethics\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nActing Principal of the Institute, Milly Kemigisha, said that the 22-year-old\ninstitution has awarded 431 Diplomas and Certificates in Social Sciences,\nJournalism, Business Administration among others to students from all over\nAfrica.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
