Japanese businessmen under\ntheir High level business federation, the Keidanren, have expressed their\ninterest to partner with Uganda companies and government and invest in\nagro-processing, construction, solar panel production, transportation and in\nmedical equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The businessmen led by Katsuo\nNagasaka, the Chairman, Committee on Sub-Saharan Africa of the Keidanren said\nthey want to strengthen their collaboration with Ugandan businessmen and\nscientists to boost trade and development between Uganda and Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nbusinessmen, including Hideo Matsui, Vice President, Division Director Energy\nProject Business Development Division, Chiyoda corporation, Ms. Atsuko Hirooka,\nExecutive Officer, Sumitomo corporation, Atoshi Mukuta, Senior Managing\nDirector of Keidanren among others, where today meeting President Yoweri\nMuseveni during a courtesy call they made to him at the InterContinental\nYokohama Grand Hotel at the sidelines of the TICAD7 conference. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Nagasaka said they have\nalready established a factory specializing in making solar pumps for\nagriculture production employing former veterans at their factory in Uganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Yoweri Museveni\nsaid the atmosphere in Uganda is good for business and he encouraged investors\nin solar project to exploit the opportunity to produce batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cJapan has the technology and\nskills, we have the raw materials and the labour, it would be good to\ncollaborate. In Uganda we have developed a solar powered car and bus. It would\nbe important to have partnerships that we can collaborate with to produce solar\nbatteries for these vehicles,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He called on the companies\ninterested in fighting malaria to work with Ugandan scientists to develop\nbacteria for larvacide and insecticide for indoor residue spraying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also urged the federation\nto exploit investments in water transport on Uganda\u2019s vast water resources for\nboth cargo and human transport saying it is much cheaper than road transport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
