{"id":11066,"date":"2019-08-29T14:05:24","date_gmt":"2019-08-29T11:05:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=11066"},"modified":"2019-08-29T14:05:29","modified_gmt":"2019-08-29T11:05:29","slug":"entebbe-municipality-leaders-prepare-bylaw-to-punish-parents-of-stubborn-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2019\/08\/29\/entebbe-municipality-leaders-prepare-bylaw-to-punish-parents-of-stubborn-children\/","title":{"rendered":"Entebbe Municipality Leaders Prepare Bylaw to Punish Parents of Stubborn Children"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BY: Daily Monitor<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Entebbe Municipality leaders are preparing a bylaw to enable punishments for parents who fail to tame their notorious children.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an interview with Daily Monitor, Entebbe B Division chairperson, Stanley Namayirira, revealed that under the enactment, parents would serve punishment on behalf of their children for any crime committed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIn Entebbe we have over eight gangs terrorising residents but when arrested and taken to police, they are immediately released because they are still young,\u201d Mr Namayirira said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Namayirira says the bylaws will be effected, starting next year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last week a group of seven young children were arrested from Banga Nakiwogo after stealing from the locals but were immediately released.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIt has come to our concern that some parents send their children to participate in such criminal activities. We have tried to engage them but nothing is done. Therefore if we arrest these kids, their parents will serve the punishment that was meant for their children since they failed to control them. We are tired,\u2019\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The LC1 chairperson for Banga Nakiwogo village, Fred Mulindwa Kayigwa, says these children have been involved in over five cases of stealing from the locals during the nights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThese kids have become a problem, they attack residents on their way home and snatch phones and hand bags. They dig holes in people&#8217;s fences and break into their houses,\u201d he said, adding; \u201cSeveral times I have tried calling the probation officer but I get no response.
