{"id":10824,"date":"2019-08-20T09:54:13","date_gmt":"2019-08-20T06:54:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=10824"},"modified":"2019-08-20T09:54:17","modified_gmt":"2019-08-20T06:54:17","slug":"kadaga-roots-for-promotion-of-local-tourism","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2019\/08\/20\/kadaga-roots-for-promotion-of-local-tourism\/","title":{"rendered":"Kadaga Roots For Promotion Of Local Tourism"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nSpeaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has asked government to pick interest in\ndeveloping local tourism sites like Kagulu rock in Buyende District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSites\nlike Kagulu rock need to be developed and preserved due to its historical\nsignificance in the history of Busoga kingdom,\u201d said Kadaga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kadaga\nsaid this while flagging off rock climbers in the Fourth Kagulu rock climbing\nchallenge on Saturday, 16August 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kadaga\nwho is also the chairperson of Busoga Tourism Association tasked RDCs to start\ngrass root initiatives that boost local tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His\nRoyal Highness, the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV, Miss world\nAfrica Quin Abenakyo, area MPs, officials from both Busoga Kingdom and central\ngovernment joined the local community for the rock climbing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nKyabazinga who challenged many by climbing to the top of the rock thanked\ngovernment for extending social services like power and piped water to the\nlocals in Busoga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gabula\nasked government to support Busoga region by promoting its tourism treasures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nrock is believed to be the first settlement of Busoga Royals after crossing\nLake Kyoga from Bunyoro Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nrock is also said to be the birth place of the five chiefdoms of Busoga that include,\nGabula of Bugabula, Zibondo of Bulamogi,&nbsp;\nTabingwa of Luuka, Ngobi of Kigulu, Nkono of Bukono all birthed by the\nfive sons of Omukama of Namutukula of Bunyoro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nsite is also the coronation site for the Bugabula chiefdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kagulu\nRock climbing challenge was started to rejuvenate its historical significance\nand also foster development in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kagulu\nrock is 3600 feet above sea level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga has asked government to pick interest in developing local tourism sites like Kagulu rock in Buyende District. \u201cSites like Kagulu rock need to be developed and preserved due to its historical significance in the history of Busoga kingdom,\u201d said Kadaga.
