President Museveni encouraged striking public university staff to go back to work immediately, in a meeting held last evening at State House, Entebbe hence, striking public university staff are set to resume work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Staff from all public universities threatened not to open for the academic year 2019\/2020 until the President fulfills his pledge of enhancing their salaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a meeting held yesterday, Public University staff were represented by their various associations and vice chancellors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Museveni said that he wasn\u2019t aware that his directive of enhancing the salaries of university professors was not yet effected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the sidelines shortly after the meeting, the chairperson of the Forum for Academic Staff of Public Universities Dr. Grace Lubaale, called upon all the staff in public universities to resume work and let the President handle the matter of salary increment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe president advised us to resume work immediately and I call upon all staff to please report to work with immediate effect,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On 27th, June 2019, public universities teaching and non teaching staff resolved that \u201cIf the balance of the Presidential Pledge on salary enhancement is not given in the Financial Year 2019\/2020, all staff in public universities will not resume work effective 1st August\u201d
