The\nUganda Police through the directorate of Political commiserate has directed\npolice commandants to take extra care of the elderly people especially those\nentangled in property and land wrangles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cElder\nabuse and victimisation is something that is currently taking place where you\nfind elderly persons due to their health and physical impairment are being\nattacked,\u201d Police Spokesperson Enanga said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
While\naddressing the media at the police headquarters, the force\u2019s spokesperson, Fred Enanga said that in a\nspace of just one month, the force has recorded 10 cases of attacks on elderly\npersons and seven of which have died in different parts of the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nsaid that all commanders have been reminded to take keen interest on the needs\nof the elderly people noting that they are vulnerable group of people who are\noccasionally taken advantage of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cSo\nmanagement has tasked all our commanders to take keen interest on the needs of\nelderly people within their due jurisdictions ensuring that they are checked on\nregularly to reduce isolation and also to work with other stake holders to\npromote awareness on the incidents of physical and emotional abuse of elderly\npersons,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Enanga\nsaid that the commanders will be doing background checks to help the victims\nresolve issues of problematic offspring including workers who are a threat in\ntheir homes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nnoted that 14 suspects have so far been apprehended in relation to the above\nmurders including relatives of the deceased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\ncondemn such horrific acts of murder and we pledged to fast track this matter\nto its logical conclusion in the courts of law,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Enanga\nconfirmed that the homicide department at CID headquarters has taken over\ninvestigations into a gruesome murder of an 84-year-old from Ntungamo district who\nwas killed in cold blood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nnoted that the force is currently holding three suspects including a one\nWilbroad Alfred Kato who has been working\nat the home of the deceased.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
