The\nAssistant Commissioner for private schools in the Ministry of Education, George\nMutekanga has called upon all the private and public schools to put emphasis co-curricular\nactivities so that appropriate skills\nare installed in the children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs\nthe Ministry of Education and Sports we are first of all very proud of public\nschools that are able to organise co-curricular activities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nnoted that co-curricular activities with academics develop different skills\nbeyond knowledge of subjects and can help to improve teaching techniques at\nschool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nsaid every activity in school plays a significant role in the development of\nstudents and children and are essential part of school life that helps in\nenhancing learning processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cCo-curricular activities promote neutral\nteaching and learning and also support the actual teaching where we emphasize\nknowledge, skills, values and attitudes,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nalso noted that if schools embark in encouraging their students to participate\nin such activities, it would promote the entertainment and tourisms sector and\noffer jobs to the youth, partially addressing the long-term unemployment\nproblem in Uganda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that when a child has been spotted\nwith some knowledge and is able to participate and practice such skills is\nbetter and that\u2019s the way to go. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWe\nhave to look at the skills of the hands, child\u2019s ability to dance, sing and to\ncompose plays, drama and that\u2019s very important,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
