President Yoweri Museveni has\ncalled upon the children of the veterans in Namayumba Sub-County in Wakiso\nDistrict to work with him in fighting household poverty in their area, just as\ntheir parents tremendously helped him during the NRM liberation struggle. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The President was today\naddressing a wealth and job creation rally in Bempe Parish, Namuyamba Sub\nCounty, Wakiso district. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr. Museveni, who thanked the\npeople of Namayumba for supporting him during the liberation struggle, advised\nthem to participate in wealth creation activities to alienate poverty from\ntheir households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe Bible says that seek ye\nfirst the Kingdom of God and all will be added to you. You must also first seek\nthe wealth of your family, the rest will come later,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the issue of coffee growing\nin the area, President Museveni clarified that the new coffee law in Uganda was\nnot meant to give license but rather to register the farmers. He reiterated\nthat this would help the country to know the farmers that are producing coffee\nif it is to be exported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLook after your coffee well\nsuch that you get good quality coffee that can fetch a high price,\u201d he advised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Referring to land grabbing issues\nin Wakiso District, the President warned district leaders who colluded with\nadministrators to steal people\u2019s land and remove them from their Bibanja<\/em>. \nHe advised those who were affected with land issues to form a group so\nthat he can meet and help them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI will fight this land war even\nif it means going back in the bush. I will not allow these land grabbers to\ntorment the children of my veterans. There is a man in Mityana called Luwalira\nwho formed a group of those who were affected with land issues. You must also\nmake a group of those who are affected such that we meet and discuss,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the health sector, President\nMuseveni advised the residents to participate in prevention health practices\nsuch as immunization, sleeping under mosquito nets, and refraining from\npromiscuous activities. He added if they did this, they would not be going to\nhospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He promised the people of Namayumba that government would make it a priority to bring electricity to the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He, however, told them they should not wait for government development programmes in order to increase their household incomes.
