The head of commission of inquiry into land\nmatters, Justice Catherine Bamugemereire has appealed to Ugandans to stop\ncriticizing the land inquiry commission noting that the commission is only\nmandated to make recommendations to relevant authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We are not the one who take people to\ncourt, we don’t investigate and we are not the one who will prosecute,\u201d she\nnoted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She made the remarks during her visit with\ncommission members to CBS radio in Bulange, Mengo on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She noted that when recommendations made are not\nimplemented, the commission calls upon relevant authorities to act positively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She noted that some of these cases could have\nbeen taken to court immediately and they cannot stop evictions when an order\nhas been issued by the court. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She added that there is need to set up land\nreconciliation team in cultural institutions that can help in the increasing\nland wrangles in the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She however added that the findings of the\ncommission will help to settle land wrangles in the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
