{"id":10061,"date":"2019-07-16T09:49:05","date_gmt":"2019-07-16T06:49:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/?p=10061"},"modified":"2019-07-16T09:49:09","modified_gmt":"2019-07-16T06:49:09","slug":"two-found-guilty-of-murdering-mechanical-engineering-student","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ugmirror.com\/index.php\/2019\/07\/16\/two-found-guilty-of-murdering-mechanical-engineering-student\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Found Guilty of Murdering Mechanical Engineering Student"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Ronald Mutebi and Geoffrey Lubwama, alias Jeff, were convicted for the murder of Andrew Gatare, 19, a Mechanical Engineering Student of University of British Columbia in Canada who was killed in Kampala on New Year eve of 2015  and aggravated robbery.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trial judge Flavia Anglin Senoga said that prosecution had proved without reasonable doubt that Mutebi and Lubwama had ganged up together to rob people off as they ushered in the new year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gatare was murdered just after watching the amazing display of fireworks at Kampala Serena Hotel around Nile Avenue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is evident that the two accused persons set out to go and rob revelers on New Year\u2019s Eve. Unfortunately, it was the deceased (Gatare) who fell to their evil plan. They attacked him and caused him fatal injuries. A telephone and unspecified sum of money were taken away from him. None of them dissociated themselves from the attack of the deceased,\u201d ruled Justice Senoga.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Justice Senoga reserved the sentencing until next Monday and sent the convicts back to Luzira prison.
