The\nMufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramathan Mubajje has said that appointment of\nincompetent Muslim leaders based on friendship into positions of authority has\ntainted and affected the development of Islam in Uganda which results to\nthe undermining and disrespecting of\nMuslims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\ncautioned Muslim leaders who are befriending him with hope of getting into\nleadership positions stating that this generation of Muslims needs educated and\ncompetent people to lead them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIf you have been befriending me with the hope\nof being appointed without qualifications forget it. We can remain friends and\neat out food but no one will be appointed without the right qualifications,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mubajje\nstated that there is hope that the newly appointed Regional Kadhis will change\nthe narrative because they are highly qualified and competent enough to steer\nMuslim leadership to the next level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mubajje made the remarks during the inauguration of Sheikh Mustapha\nLule Khamis as the first East Buganda Regional Kadhi at Kasana Umea primary\nschool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mubajje said Regional Kadhis will be\nsemi-autonomous and will oversee all the Muslim activities under their\njurisdiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cUganda\nMuslim Supreme Council resolved to institute the offices of Regional Kadhis to\nimprove and decentralized service delivery and development among Muslims, \u201che\nnoted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He\nurged Muslims of East Buganda region to embrace UMSC programs because they are\nmeant to develop Muslims and forester unity in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The\nnewly sworn in East Buganda Regional Kadhi, Sheikh Mustapha Lule Khamis\npromised to pay allegiance to the Mufti of Uganda and uphold the constitution\nof Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Haji\nAbdul Nadduli, the Minister without Portfolio who represented President Yoweri\nMuseveni at the inauguration ceremony, said the appointment of Regional Kadhis\nis a good idea and noted that the government will support Regional set up\nbecause it\u2019s one way to decentralize services and offered Shs50million to help\nthe East Buganda Region as a start-up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
East\nBuganda Region comprises of Luwero, Nakaseke, Kyankwanzi, Kiboga, Nakasongola, Wakiso\nand Kayunga districts. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
