Fatal Crash Claims Three Lives on Masaka-Kampala Highway

On the night of April 17, 2024, tragedy struck on the Masaka-Kampala Highway as two vehicles collided head-on in Kamengo at Kasuule Ayanguwa swamp. The territorial traffic police in Mpigi reported the incident, which occurred at approximately 11:40 pm.

The crash involved two motor vehicles, identified as M/V UAL 605 U Mitsubishi Fuso and UBH 247L Subaru Forester, traveling in opposite directions. Preliminary investigations revealed that the Mitsubishi Fuso, heading from Kampala towards Masaka, collided with the Subaru Forester, which was traveling in the opposite direction towards Kampala.

Regrettably, the collision resulted in the instant loss of three lives, including the driver, and critically injured one other passenger in the Subaru Forester. The injured individual was promptly transported to Double Cure in Mpigi for urgent medical attention, while the deceased were taken to Gombe Hospital mortuary for postmortem examinations.

In response to the incident, authorities towed both vehicles involved to Kamengo police station for further inspection and investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision. As investigations continue, this tragic event serves as a sobering reminder of the importance of road safety measures and vigilant driving practices along the nation’s highways.
