Rose Namayanja Nsereko, the Deputy Secretary General of the NRM party, conducted training sessions for NRM registrars in Kampala and Wakiso districts on Monday, ahead of the nationwide display.

The update of the party register is scheduled from Wednesday 13 to Sunday 17 March 2024.

During her visits, Namayanja was warmly welcomed in Nansana municipality by the Wakiso district RDC, Justine Mbabazi. She reiterated the Secretariat’s commitment to facilitating a smooth registration exercise at all levels and expressed gratitude to local leaders for their support of the NRM.

Namayanja emphasized the importance of updating the register, including categorizing different groups and ensuring gender sensitivity, as well as removing deceased individuals from the list. She stressed the need for honesty and transparency among registrars to establish a trusted system for the NRM primaries.

Following the roadmap set by the National Chairman, General Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, meetings are being conducted at the district level to train sub-county registrars, who will then train Parish and Village registrars. Over 90% of the districts have received all necessary materials for the registration exercise, ensuring thorough verification and credibility of the register.

In a separate training session in Nansana Division, Namayanja urged district registrars to expedite the registration process for a clean register and wider participation in the NRM voting process.

Hon. Salim Uhuru, the Mayor of Kampala Central Division, also stressed the importance of discipline in the registration exercise, emphasizing the NRM’s readiness to address any challenges encountered during the primaries.
