Police in Busoga North are currently searching for 28-year-old Sylvia Nabirye, a resident of Buzimba village in Nawampiti sub-county, Luuka district, over allegations of killing her 35-year-old husband, Amos Kivulumwike.
The couple had been engaged in ongoing conflicts over issues of infidelity, with Nabirye accusing Kivulumwike of having multiple relationships with schoolgirls.
According to reports, Kivulumwike returned home late last night and refused to explain his whereabouts to Nabirye, which reignited her anger and led to a physical altercation.
It is alleged that Nabirye slapped Kivulumwike, causing him to fall onto their bed.
Subsequently, Nabirye reportedly squeezed his private parts with her hands, resulting in his collapse and subsequent death.
The deceased has been transported to the mortuary at Kiyunga Health Center IV for postmortem examination, while police continue their search for the suspect.
Hakim Muziru, a resident of the area, stated that the couple, who have two children together, appeared to be happy initially, but their conflicts began during the December festivities of 2023.
Despite efforts by friends to mediate and reconcile the couple, their disputes escalated without resolution.
Michael Kasadha, the spokesperson for Busoga North police, confirmed the incident and stated that efforts to locate the suspect are ongoing, with vigilantes assisting in the search in neighbouring villages.
Kasadha also emphasized the importance of peaceful conflict resolution in marital relationships, urging couples to seek non-violent methods of resolving disputes to prevent tragic outcomes.
