1 Mins read

Business in Kasese town was on Wednesday afternoon brought to a dramatic standstill as the Omusinga wa Rwenzururu Charles Wesley Iremangoma made a triumphant return to the district after a seven year absence.

Omusinga Mumbere has not been in Kasese district since 2016 after an attack on his palace led to his incarceration together with his royal guards.

Yet, on this splendid Wednesday, an irresistible atmosphere of jubilation enveloped the town, with locals dancing to the traditional ekikeebe as thousands lined up the streets from the Kasese Airfield where a plane carrying the monarch touched down in the afternoon.

He had been airlifted from Kololo Independence Grounds.

On his arrival, the Omusinga was welcomed by a host of religious leaders, family and officials from the Kingdom.

He was then led in a grand procession mounted by subjects with their hearts steaming with loyalty, riding motorcycles while others drove their vehicles to the the Kasese Golf Course.

Mumbere who was atop his vehicle, waved at the the ecstatic thousands who stood by the roadside to welcome a man they hold so dear in their hearts.

He was later ushered into the golf course where multitudes braved the scorching Kasese sun to welcome their king.
