Former Prime Minister of Uganda and Presidential candidate, Hon Amama Mbabazi has refuted the stroke rumours that have been circulating online.
Responding to a tweet that was sent out by Uganda’s leading tabloid, Red Pepper, he said that;
“To all those that have sent me get-well-soon messages, I thank you for your encouragement, sympathy and love. It is not true that I got a stroke. I had a back ailment which was fixed & I have actually in the last week or so been involved in fairly heavy diplomatic work. Thanks.”
Videos posted online, shows the former NRM Secretary General walking with clutches out of Dukes Hotel in London with the help of three individuals.
In the short clip, Amama appears to be writhing in pain as he exits the hotel. Sources say he recently had an operation on the back and is now recuperating from the same.
Amama served as the ninth Prime Minister of Uganda from 24 May 2011 to 19 September 2014. In 2016, he contested against President Yoweri Museveni but lost the bid.
