Excitement As Museveni Gifts Kayunga Residents With 800 Land Titles

On Thursday afternoon, the head of the Office of the National Chairman of NRM, SPA Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo delivered 800 land titles from President Yoweri Museveni to residents of Nkokonjeru, Kayunga District.

The titles which were part of a pledge by the country’s number one, were handed over to the residents at a function held in Kitimbwa Sub County.

It was attended by a host of local leaders including; Kariisa Karangwa (NRM Chairperson), Andrew Muwonge (LCV Chairperson) and NUP MP Tebandeke. State Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Sma Mayanja also graced the occasion.

Speaking at the function, Hajjat Hadijah commended President Yoweri Museveni for fulfilling his pledge saying the NRM National Chairman has always sought to ensure Ugandans are self empowered.

“The beneficiaries of these land titles have received a lifetime asset. You are now landlords,” SPA Hadijah said before warning agaisnt land grabbers.

Describing the event as historic, the leader of the #TovaKuMain wave urged Kayunga leaders to desist from cheap politicking especially on matters of national importance.

Minister Sam Mayanja gave the attendees a chronology of Uganda’s land question, tracing it to pre-colonial times and reiterating Hajjat Hadijah’s remarks that the event was historic in Kayunga district.

Last year, the president launched the distribution of issuing titles to 275,000 families and 630 clans in the greater northern region. At the same time, he delivered 8000 titles to residents in Kayunga District.
