Ministry of Education and Sports To Renovate The Traditional Schools In The Country

1 Mins read

The Committee on Education and Sports has allocated Sh15 billion to give traditional schools across the nation a facelift.

The committee’s report, which was delivered by the committee’s chair, Hon. John Twesigye Ntamuhiira, stated that there are several traditional schools around the nation that are struggling with deteriorated and insufficient infrastructure.

The committee also stated that in order for schools to provide pupils with an education that meets the very minimal requirements for quality, they urgently need government help.

In agreement, MPs provided evidence of the urgent need to review the circumstances surrounding traditional schools.

Hon. Francis Mwijukye, a member of parliament for Buhweju County, questioned how “Secure Your Future” would be achievable without high-quality education given that the government had made that commitment.

“In order to attend traditional schools, we need more money. You are familiar with institutions like Kitgum High, Sir Samuel Baker Gulu, and Teso College Aloet.

These are all embarrassing conditions. He stated that many leaders, including the Speaker and ministers, attended these schools.

Others in the group argued in favor of providing ample resources to the whole field of education.

Hon. Connie Nakayenze, a Mbale City woman representative, stated that education is a crucial component of growth and emphasized the need for increased budgetary support for the area.

“We need to discuss performance, raising teacher pay, and routine school inspections if we want to make education affordable.” “Our kids will grow up to be gangsters if we don’t educate them,” she said.

The Hon. Moriku Joyce Kaducu, Minister of State for Education, expressed appreciation for the funding given to the field and urged the lawmakers to keep pushing for improvements.

“When we don’t place a high priority on excellent education, we won’t be able to meet the standards set by other countries, and our kids won’t be able to compete in the job market.” Therefore, she stated, “Funding is actually at the core of all activities.”
