Officers managing the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) depots at the Namanve industrial region refused to accept a shipment of iron sheets Speaker Anita Among bought to replace those handed to her from relief supplies intended for Karamoja.
Due to an ongoing investigation into the diverted humanitarian supplies for Karamoja, the OPM staff insists that the iron sheets must first be cleared by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the CIID.
The diversion of relief supplies purchased for the region has caused a storm to rage around the Karamoja Ministry, which is housed within the Office of the Prime Minister-OPM.
Top government leaders, including ministers, shared the iron sheets.
The Prime Minister, Robinah Nabbanja, the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, the Finance Minister, Matia Kasaija, his Junior Minister, Amos Lugoloobi, the Karamoja Affairs Minister, Mary Gorreti Kitutu, and her Junior Agnes Nandutu are just a few of the prominent people who have since been named in the iron sheet scandal.
