Kenya’s First Lady Declares Prayers Against Homosexuality

1 Mins read

While the family unit is being attacked, Kenya’s First Lady Rachel Ruto has called for national prayers against homosexuality in the nation.

According to Ms. Ruto, the nation cannot support the Supreme Court’s decision from last month upholding the right of organization for the LGBTQ community.

“We shouldn’t even attempt to discuss LGTBQ. We shouldn’t even be having this conversation in our country because adopting it would be the same as discarding our beliefs, the first lady stated on Sunday.

In Kenya, homosexuality is still illegal. The Kenyan constitution’s freedom to association was violated, the Supreme Court declared, if the LGBT community was denied the opportunity to form lobby groups there.

However, President William Ruto and Kenya’s top religious figures also voiced their opposition to the decision.

According to Kenya’s attorney general, the government will appeal the court’s decision since it should be decided by public debate rather than legal action.
