Prior to Thursday’s by-election, the Electoral Commission has sent voting supplies to the Serere district.

The supplies, which also include basins, biometric voter verification kits, ballot boxes, records, and other items, were delivered on Tuesday to the headquarters of the Election Commission.

The Serere District Returning Officer, Sylvia Cheptegei, reports that 74,394 people are entitled to vote, which is a decrease from the 75,173 voters that were listed in the revision of the national voters’ register.

The Serere County Electoral Commission registered 577 new voters during the updating of the National Voters’ Register.

Nonetheless, there were 74,464 total registered voters in Serere County for the general elections in 2021.

The voting papers were all secure, according to Levy Akonopesa Otim, an agent for independent candidate Emmanuel Omoding, and they are all prepared for the elections.

Five people have run for the Serere County Parliamentary By-election. They are Martin Onguruco and Emmanuel Omoding, both independent candidates, Alice Alaso of the ANT, Phillip Oucor of the NRM, Emmanuel Eratu of the FDC, and

When Patrick Okabe, who passed away in a car accident in December of last year, the seat became empty.
