KAWUNYEMU!! Trucker Who Knocked CDF Tests Positive For Alcohol

The truck driver who rammed into the official vehicle of the Chief of Defence Forces –CDF Gen. Wilson Mbadi on Thursday night has tested positive for alcohol.

Kampala East Regional Traffic Commander Abdikadir Gamal, says that Abdallah Ssemusu who was driving truck number UAF 969B rammed into Gen. Mbadi’s Land Cruiser UG 0475D at Spear motors road junction around 10 pm.  

Both Gen. Mbadi and Ssemusu were coming from Kinawataka toward the Kampala –Jinja highway. 

Ssemusu knocked Mbadi in front of Spear motor’s house and chose to drive off. 

“After the accident, motor vehicle UAF 969B sped off towards Ntinda stretch and was followed by the CDF’s bodyguards who upon reaching the junction to Ntinda industrial area shot the tires, and the same vehicle overturned,” SP Gamal said.

He says that the bodyguards arrested Ssemusu and handed him over to the police who have since opened inquiries vide police file 495/2022 at Jinja road policing division headquarters. 

“Ssemusu was tested for alcohol and he tested positive at 0.62mg/ml. Motor vehicle UG 0475D was allowed to proceed with the principal. Ssemusu is in police custody. Inquires still ongoing,” reads SP Gamal’s report. 

The legally prescribed limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood, which is equivalent to 35 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milligrams of breath. 

Road crashes have so far claimed the lives of 13 security personnel this year. Of these, 10 have been police officers and five of these died last week.
