Kyegegwa police are holding a man accused of killing his wife and hiding her body for four days. Vicent Twesige, the Rwenzori West Police spokesperson identifies the suspect as 49-year-old Innocent Kibwetere 49, a resident of Kayembe-Bujujura village Ruhangire Parish Rwentuha sub-county Kyegegwa District.

According to Twesige, the suspect had a fight with his wife, Ronious Twikirize on the night of November 11, 2022, for unknown reasons.

He explains that the following day, neighbors saw the couple’s house closed and thought that the two had gone to the garden.

He, however, says that the neighbors got concerned after failing to see the couple for the next three days and started calling Kibwetere’s mobile phone.

He reportedly told them that he was in the garden with his wife and would return late in the evening.

However, on November 15, the deceased sister identified as Kyomukama called Kibwetere demanding to speak to her sister prompting him to reveal that he had killed her and locked her body in the house.

Kyomukama informed the village LC I chairperson who also reported the matter to Kazinga police post. According to Twesige, police visited the area and found Kibwetere lying beside the body of his wife when they opened the couple’s room.

Police picked up Kibwetere and took the deceased’s body to Kyegegwa General Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
