Museveni To Address The Nation Again Amidst Hunger Among Ugandans Over Fuel Prices

1 Mins read

The outgoing senior presidential press secretary Linda Nabusayi has said that the Head of State will address the nation again this week on Friday, August 5, 2022.

Nabusayi said the president will be addressing the country on the issues related to development without giving much details.

She said the address will be broadcast live on all local televisions and radios.

“@KagutaMuseveni will address the Nation on Friday August 5, 2022 at 8.00pm #DevelopmentIssues the address will be broadcast live on all Televisions and Radios,” Nabusayi tweeted.

Recently the president addressed the nation on the issues regarding escalating prices of commodities especially fuel but Ugandans have since been left aggrieved by his addresses in which they accuse him of providing no short-term solutions to the skyrocketing fuel and food prices that the country is grappling with.

Ugandans want the President to talk about measures available to address the shocks and challenges caused by the tough economic situation.

However, in his previous address last week, the President offered no immediate solutions to the rising fuel prices, but expressed optimism that his administration is working on electric cars that could solve the problem in about 20 years.

He said government interventions by cutting taxes or subsidies would mislead the people to continue to consume without economizing the commodities thus plunging the country into more trouble.

He has since maintained that switching to electric cars and trains is the long-term solution to the fuel problem however in the meantime encouraged members of the public to use fuel sparingly.
