Uganda and Cuba enjoy warms relations, a friendship that now spans 48 years.

Last Tuesday, Cuba’s Ambassador to Uganda H.E Tania Perez Xiques, hosted guests at her residence to celebrate this milestone.

Internal Affairs Minister Hon Kahinda Otafiire was chief guest at the colorful function.

The event drew many officials including Ugandans officials like the Health Ministry Permanent Secretary Dr Diana Atwine, MP Jimmy Akena.

Mr Jalal, leader of the Lebanese community in Uganda, was among those present.

Uganda’s Mbarara University of Science and technology, is the most remarkable highlight of Kampala- Havana Relations.

It was born out of an idea between President Yoweri Museveni and Cuba’s former leader El Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro.

Uganda has a sizeable number of students who’ve studied Cuba’s famed medical institutions.
