Government critic and National Unity Platform diehard Fred Lumbuye has been released from jail when he spent months.
This was revealed by Kyadondo East Member of parliament, Muwada Nkunyingi.
“I wish to formally confirm that FRED KAJUBI LUMBUYE was yesterday released from detention by Turkish Authorities,” reads Muwada’s statement.
The statement further reads that; “He had been detained at KOCAEL Foreigner detention center in Turkey.
“I have personally spoken to FRED KAJUBI LUMBUYE today and he sounds strong and fine.
“LUMBUYE is thankful to all Ugandan; globally. We thank our legal team A Turk, headed by Advocate ADNAN SAHIN for the tremendous efforts.
“We applaud the Turkish Government for allowing LUMBUYF KAJUBI FRED a benefit of defending himself in accordance with the law & allowing his eventual release from detention.
“The legal team in Turkey, shall continue to address and attend to all related legal matters even after his release.
It is worth noting that Lumbuye, who lives in Turkey, was in trouble for among others being the source of a rumour that dominated social media in July indicating that President Museveni was very ill and was admitted to a hospital in Germany.
The following days he took his allegations to even another level when he announced that Museveni had actually died from the hospital where he had been taken.
Before and after the 2021 general elections, he attacked so many high-profile institutions and members of society including Buganda Kingdom and its officials, government officials and religious leaders.
