Terrorists Could Hit Uganda — UK Intel

1 Mins read

Intelligence alert from United Kingdom (UK) has revealed that terrorists could attack Uganda anytime from now, Ug Mirror reports.

In a statement to its citizens in Uganda, They were told to be extremely vigilant about their security “especially in crowded and public places like hotels, transport hubs, restaurants and bars, and during major gatherings like sporting or religious events”.

“Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreigners. UK Counter Terrorism Policing has information and advice on staying safe abroad and what to do in the event of a terrorist attack,” the statement reads.

It is worth noting that the previous terrorist attacks and disrupted attacks in Uganda have targeted the security forces and places like hotels, transport hubs, restaurants and bars.

In 2010 there were bomb attacks in Kampala at venues screening the World Cup final killing over 70 people and injuring many more.

Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility and linked the attacks to Uganda’s military presence in Somalia as part of an African Union peacekeeping mission (AMISOM), and threatened further attacks in the region.

Uganda Police has however said that they are already on ground dismantling the terror cells that are being facilitated by yet to be known gangs and rebel groups.
