A total of 20 police officers drawn from the canine department have completed a six months course in narcotic detection at canine headquarters in Nsambya.
Kato Paul, the deputy director CID who presided over the closing ceremony urged the officers to take the knowledge and skills acquired seriously for better service delivery and also warned them against involvement in any corrupt tendencies.
During the course, the participants were taken through different types of narcotics, physical identification of narcotics and tentative testing of narcotics, the different forms of concealment methods used by most drug traffickers, like hiding under the fat rolls, use of false bottoms, use of craft shoes, new clothes, bed sheets, management of narcotic scene, exhibits and presentation of canine evidence in courts of law in order to secure a conviction.
