The leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP) Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has said that those who have studied president Museveni and how he operates would not be surprised if the whole objective behind the killings in the greater Masaka is to frame political opponents and cause terror within the region and the country.
On Tuesday, speaking during the pass-out ceremony for cadet Assistant Superintendents and non -commissioned officers for Uganda Prisons at Kololo independence grounds, Museveni said the people behind the brutal murders of the innocent people in greater Masaka are known and are politically motivated.
For the first time in more than a week, Masaka Sub-region overnight Monday did not report any fatality related to the horrifying attacks executed by persons whose agenda is still anonymous to security forces.
In a statement basing on Museveni’s remarks, Kyagulanyi said Ugandans are now getting closer to understanding who is behind the killings of people in greater Masaka.
He explained that a friend of him reminded him of Gen. Kahinda Otafiire’s words at the burial of Prof. Adonia Tiberondwa on December 26 2004 in Bushenyi where he reportedly revealed that the National Resistance Army (NRA) rebels used to wear Ugandan People’s Congress (UPC) government army uniform and kill people in order to make people hate the UPC government.
“This is how the Museveni rebels tricked the people of Luwero into supporting them and hating the UPC government. Today, the NRA/M under the same Museveni can look for and arrest political opponents from the deepest rural areas and even stop protests in record time but they now tell us they don’t know and cannot stop bandits killing people in Masaka with just pangas,” he said.
“When compared with the killings in Kasese town which are up to 6 cases in a space of two weeks, the killings of women in Entebbe in 2017, similar murders in the greater Masaka region in 2018, the burning of schools and markets over the years with no conclusive report, one can only conclude that all this is happening NRA style and therefore could be false flag operations is an attack or hostile action that is blamed on another party by the perpetrator,” he said.
Kyagulanyi said the purpose can be causing mass fear, achieving certain unpopular political objectives or framing a political opponent.
“A false flag attack can also be staged to divert public attention from something that the perpetrator wants to conceal. A government which could lie that they found machine guns in my hotel room in Arua can definitely lie about anything. That is how they operate,” he stated.
He said it may be too early to tell, but no Ugandan would be surprised if these killings are simply false flag attacks orchestrated by the regime itself.
