President Yoweri Museveni on Tuesday shocked many when he revealed, for the first time, his encounter with the bitter.
Museveni, a known teetotaller, was addressing a group of of prisons cadet officer graduates at their pass out, when he laid bare his brief encounter with the drinks that give people ‘heights.’
“I had never tasted alcohol before then one of my friends convinced me to. I tried beer; it’s so bitter like omululuza (bitter leaf). I asked why they were drinking it, he told me ‘you’ll know the sweetness later.’ I tried Johnnie walker and it was like fire,” Museveni said.
He added, “If it (Johnnie Walker) could burn my tongue what would have happened to the liver and other internal organs?”
Museveni is famous for advocating against all tribes of the bitter, if one is to maintain a sober and successful life, according to his philosophy.
