Massive COVID 19 Vaccination will start today at Mandela national stadium, Namboole, the Ministry of Health has announced.
“The COVID-19 Vaccination exercise starts today at Namboole Stadium for all the eligible persons.
This is in addition to the ongoing vaccination program at the designated health facilities in @KCCAUG and other districts in the country,” reads the tweet sent in by Ministry of Health today morning.
This website understands that the categories that will be prioritised for vaccination include; Health workers, Teachers, People above 50years, people aged 18years and above with comorbidities and those due for their second dose after 12weeks of taking the first one.
Massive vaccination exercise comes at a time when government received additional donations of 586,080 doses of Covid-19 vaccines from China and Norway.
300,000 doses of Sinovac were from the Chinese government while 286,080 doses of AstraZeneca were from Norway through COVAX facility.
As of now Uganda has administered a total number of 1, 152, 874 of COVID 19 vaccines.
Uganda aims at vaccinating at least 22million people.
