Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire has revealed that there is no evidence indicating that girls rescued on Friday from Muyenga, a city suburb were having sex with dogs as alleged in the media.

On Friday, police raided a guesthouse in Muyenga following a tipoff from a a concern citizen about the presence of teen girls and their activities there.

“It is true 14 girls were rescued from a guest house in Muyenga, after a whistle blower at the guest house got concerned that the care taker Ndagire was making the girls share the same room and bed with the puppies. The concerned citizen also said that the girls were always seen moving with, and carrying the dogs all the time. This is the information that that led to the raid at the guest house,” Owoyesigyire said in a brief statement on Saturday.

Fourteen girls were arrested and according to media reports, the girls were reportedly being trained in conducting unnatural sexual acts including allegedly sleeping with dogs and being prepared to travel to a European destination for unspecified duties.

Owoyesigyire adds in the clarification, “We would however, want to state that there is no evidence that shows whether the girls were being forced to perform un natural acts; acts of bestiality with the dogs as alleged by the URN story. That can only be ascertained with medical evidence.”

The girls were under the custody of a lady called Dorothy Ndagire who purports to operate an NGO called Maya Project, Uganda Chapter working in collaboration with another in the UK but not registered under the laws of Uganda.

Ndagire is under police detention to help in investigations and the girls have since been taken to a home awaiting information regarding where they came from and who their parents are.
