42 DAYS: Museveni Imposes Partial Lockdown To Control COVID-19 Resurgence

President Yoweri Museveni has imposed a partial lockdown to control the spread of COVID-19.

Museveni was addressing the nation on Sunday evening when he banned gatherings for 42 days following weeks of a second wave.

BELOW ARE SOME OF THE KEY POINTS

  • Schools have been closed for 42 days
  • Churches and big gatherings closed for 42 days, online attendance is advised.
  • Cultural gatherings are suspended for 42 days.
  • Public gathering suspended for 42 days
  • India travels apart from Ugandan returnees suspended.
    *Agriculture activities to continue.
    *Non agriculture activities to continue are factory, construction, shopping malls, supermarkets while observing SOPs.
    *Shopping malls on probation for 1 week
  • Gathering points with alot of people to operate under strick observations. Failure to comply within a week
    *Functions, social gatherings are only allowed with maximum of 20 people with strick observance of SOPs.
    *House parties are banned
    *Burials max 20 people
    *Monthly mkts suspended.
    *Public transport suspended starting 10th June. For interdistrict.
    But within same district, it will be operating.
  • Cargo trucks 2 people allowed
  • Sports events can be allowed without spectators.
    *Work places 30% attendance.
    *private vehicles 3 people
