Former Speaker Rebecca Kadaga’s woes are far from over.

After being defeated in her bid to retain the speakership on Monday, a section of top ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party supporters, want her to apologise for defying the party.

Led by Ruth Nankabirwa, they want Kadaga to apologise for going against what the party top organ, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) had decided on who would represent the party in the election for speaker.

“It is not yet over. The former speaker must apologize to CEC where she is a member for her indiscipline and for contesting for the seat as an independent candidate,” Ruth Nankabirwa said.

On Sunday, the CEC chose Rt Hon Jacob Oulanyah as flag bearer for the party, a decision Kadaga, rejected prompting her to contest the Monday election as an independent.

She addressed a press conference after storming out of the CEC meeting.

Oulanyah went on to win the election with a landslide, ending Kadaga’s hopes of what many are calling, personalising the speakership.

The CEC is headed by party Chairman, President Yoweri Museveni and many felt Kadaga’s action were a direct challenge and disrespect of his leadership and authority.

Kadaga who is also a member of the CEC, risks losing her place in the party’s top decision making organ of she refuses to seek forgiveness from party bosses.
