Kira Road Divisio Police boss, Mathias Turyasingura has passed on after battling suspected COVID-19.
The news of his death was announced on Tuesdsy evening.
Police is yet to comment on the news.
It comes on the heels of reports that the virus is resurgent with registered cases on the rise.
The Minostry of Health has issued a warning and advised Ugandans to observe Standard Operating Procedures, saying Intensive Care Units at Mulago and Entebbe Hospitals are full.
