Ugandans have taken to social media sites to question the criteria used to invite people to attend President Yoweri Museveni’s inauguration at Kololo Independence Grounds on Wednesday.
This is after photos of mysterious moneybags, Jackson Akim Pemba aka Jack Pemba, appeared on social media showing the tycoon whose source of income is as elusive as the wind, waving at whoever cared to notice him.
A one Samwise Gamgee was among the first to question move the asking on Twitter, “What was the criteria for one to receive an invite? Kati Jack Pemba represents which group?”
Her question attracted a number of responses with some joking that Pemba who has been known to be involved in dubious gold deals, was representing people of his ilk.
A one Joel responded, “Man, We are a country of jokers. The office of the presidency is surrounded by unscrupulous individuals it is quite saddening. Brokers and middle men everywhere who have no business being so close to power.”
BELOW ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSES
The Ministry of the presidency was in charge of organising the fete and according to conditions laid out before, it was to be attended by 4000 people who included representatives from districts across the country.
They also had to undergo COVID19 tests as part of the SOPs.
PEMBA LIFESTYLE
He is man whose fancy lifestyle has on certain occasions drawn controversy, yet he remains mysterious.
Pemba claims that he has operations in Uganda, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, USA and his business interests span mining, security, coffee, general trading, freight services, sports management, and fashion.
“I am the founder and CEO Pemba group of companies, a company with big plans to transform East Africa through investment and development,” he told media recently.
He also adds that he passionate about his work; constantly researching and developing business concepts that would appeal to his target markets, open new avenues and also give back to the community. He takes great pride in the quality of work he does and is determined to attain heights.
However, the said businesses are shrouded in mystery as directly linking a particular business to the man from DRC has proved futile over the years.
