Former Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has told MPs from Bunyoro sub region that they should back her bid to return as Speaker because she wants to ensure that their salaries are increased.

“I am the only one who can fight for increment of your salary and allowances. I want to ensure you earn more money,” she said.
Kadaga made the remarks while meeting the MPs including 10 from Acholi sub region, sources say.

The meeting took place at Plot 55 in Ntinda on Thursday following the expiry of her term as Speaker.

Sources reveal that Kadaga emphasized to MPs that she needs to return as Speaker because, “I am the only one who can manage that man ( President Museveni). He fears me that is why he is fighting me .”

“He thinks he is clever but I am managing him. I have asked some people to convince him that I can work with him but once we get our thing , he will know us ,” she confided in one of the MPs after the meeting, “He wants to decide a successor but I am around. We shall not allow them. Let’s capture Speakership again then he will know that his threats are empty.”

She complained to the her trusted MP that Museveni’s brother Gen Salim Saleh and wife Janet Museveni are fighting her but “those ones don’t have any influence. I will defeat them and they will be running to me again to help them in this and that. Even with their army in parliament what have they done ? They are just 10 only and we control the rest,” she bragged.

Kadaga encouraged the MPs that the Central Executive Committee of NRM will vote her rival Jacob Oulanyah as party candidate but they should go out there and make noise that the party will split.

“Scare them. I know that man is a coward I know him. I have saved him many timed. Don’t fear him,” she said.

After the meeting , she dished out shs 1m to each of the MPs that attended the meeting.
