“TOLINA KYOTUGAMBA!” Where’s The COVID Drug You Promised? – Ofwono Stings Kadaga

1 Mins read

The battle for Speaker of Parliament has sucked in government mouthpiece, Ofwono Opondo who has unleashed a bare-knuckles attack on the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga.

Government officials have been careful not to engage in revealing camps they support since President Yoweri Museveni who is also ruling NRM chairman, outlawed campaigns for the job arguing that it was threatening harmony in the party.

The battle for speaker pits Kadaga against her Deputy Jacob Oulanyah who are both top leaders in the NRM.

However, on Wednesday, Ofwono was replying to a tweet by Speaker Kadaga and reminded her about a promise she made last year concerning the COVID-19 drug.

“I’ve received 22 names of eminent Muslim scholars who have requisite skills in Islamic Banking. I’ve forwarded them to the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development,” Kadaga tweeted.

Tagging her tweet, Opondo replied, “The country is still waiting for the #COVID19UG drug manufactured by a ‘boy’ from Busoga you promised on the floor of @Parliament_Ug last year to be available in two weeks.”

Last year, at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, Kadaga promised the country that she was in touch with an American professor and people from Busoga who were working on a COVID19 drug, a promised that failed to pass as the country got sucked into a lockdown.
