The Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Frank Tumwebaze has told NRM lawmakers to stop hiding behind the ‘Silent Majority’ slogan.
Tumwebaze made the remarks on Monday while addressing a group of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party MPs who are currently attending a retreat in Kyankwanzi.
“In my conclusion & call to action to the MPs-elect was; discouraging the idea of a “silent #NRM majority”. Politics is about contesting ideas thru engagement. If u don’t tell ur story correctly & factually perhaps ur opponent will tell it on your bahalf & distort it to malign you,” Tumwebaze said.
The ‘Silent Majority’ solgan was popularised by singer Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool in the lead up to the last General elections to refer to NRM silent prowess.
It was started as a response to the Bobi Wine wave that made itself pronounced on social media.
But according to Tumwebaze who was invited to deliver a lecture, its high time party members come out in the open and tell their stories.
